Camden turns 6!!

6 years old!
Excavating toys from the block of ice
This was the vinegar/baking soda mixture that the kids put their balloons onto.

Loves his new scooter!
The kids had so much fun with this

Posted by PicasaCamden turned 6 on January 18th!  He decided on a Curious George birthday party, which was a lot of fun for me to do because I happen to LOVE Curious George.  For party games we did experiments.  We were "curious" if there was another way to blow up balloons other than with our mouths.  So we filled some water bottles with baking soda and vinegar and placed balloons over the top and the gas released filled up the balloons.  The kids loved this.  But some of the bottles must have had a little too much of the solution in it because it made the balloons pop and spatter vinegar baking soda on a kid or two.  It was a surprise when that happened, but for the most part everyone thought it was funny.

We were also "curious" what could melt ice.  So I froze a bunch of little toys in 2 blocks of ice and let the kids try different ways to excavate the toys.  They used knives, water, sugar, salt, and baking soda.  It was a lot of fun for them to see what things would melt ice.  They quickly learned that salt and hot water worked best. It was fun to watch them chipping away with their little plastic knives to get the toys out.

Camden had a lot of fun with his friends and later we had our own small family party where he was so excited to get his new Razor scooter.  He loves it and rides it all the time.

Camden is such a good kid.  He really likes structure and rules and it's very important to him that other people are following the same structure and rules which sometimes poses a big challenge for mom. :)  He is excelling at school and is a good reader.  He has been placed in the advanced levels of math and reading in his Kindergarten class.  He's like a little sponge and enjoys learning and is super smart.

Soccer is one of Camden's favorite things to play.  He also likes to make cards for people and play the Wii.  He is hopeful every day that he will receive mail, but it doesn't usually happen for him except on birthdays.  It's cute to see him rush out to the mail box each day though to see what's inside.  I remember doing that as a kid too.

He is very responsible and really takes care of his things.  He loves superheroes and his favorite ones are Spiderman, Wolverine, and Iron Man.  He adores his little brother and has a great sibling rivalry with his younger sister.  He is also very caring towards me and loves to bring me breakfast in bed.  Sometimes if I am already up and going he will insist that I climb back into bed so he can bring my breakfast to me.  He's such a thoughtful kid and I think I'll keep him! :)
