We received the unfortunate news last week that Aaron did not pass the CPA exams that he took in August. DARN!!! He was so close again, in the low 70's, and remember, he only needs a 75 to pass.
The other stressful thing is that with the economy collapse, Deloitte really took a hit. Almost everyone of those big companies that you've heard about in the news, i.e. Fannie Mae, Lehman Brothers, etc., were Deloitte's clients. This has hit Aaron's company very hard. Layoffs were already suspected, but Aaron and all of the Deloitte employees got a memo yesterday that more layoffs would be imminent. Aaron is sure that he is next to go because he is next to move up. Well, there isn't anywhere to move up since there isn't any work to do, and he gets paid more than the newbies. It makes Aaron the likely choice.
So, our future is suddenly very uncertain. Aaron had already begun searching for jobs, but it felt like it was on our terms, because he wanted a change. Suddenly things are shifting to a necessary change of employment, and in an economy like this, it may not be easy, even with Aaron's experience. I guess it will be a race to secure employment before he loses his current one, and that isn't what we had hoped for. It would be much better to be able to take our time and search out a few areas and companies that are attractive, but if a lay-off happens soon, we can forget about the taking our time part.
We're fortunate that we have some money in savings so it wouldn't be completely devastating at first, but the pressure is on because of the pregnancy. What would we do without health insurance? Yikes!
So, keep us in mind if you hear of a fantastic opportunity for a senior level accountant in your area. We are open to moving and our top location picks are: 1. St. George, 2. Las Vegas, 3. Phoenix, and then everything else after that is whatever. Thanks!

Ah! That is so frustrating! Things are certainly not easy for anyone are they? I hope things come together for you guys and you are able to find something you want. Good luck!
I will be looking for a job for you guys in Orem and then you can move into the house on my street that's open for rental right now.....okay maybe you wouldn't want to be that close to us, but it would be fun to see you!! Good luck with the job hunt-we're praying for you and your baby. Hang in there!
I will keep you guys in mind and let you know if I hear anything. This darn economy has been so hard on people, I'm so frustrated and all geared up to VOTE.
My sister lives in Phoenix and I can ask her if she knows of any jobs in your hubby's field. GOOD LUCK!!
Hey Jules! We feel the pain! After only being here in Missouri for 2 months, Bryan was laid-off this week (or you could say fired, except they didn't have a reason... long story!) Oh yeah, and did I mention that I'm pregnant, too! LOL
ANYWAY, we are looking at moving to Phoenix! It seems like there are lots of accounting jobs available and housing is amazingly CHEAP! We are looking at nice, new, big homes in the 90K - 135K range!
We are pretty excited about going there as soon as we can find a job! How much fun if you guys came too!!! We could be prego together! LOL
